From Songs of the City by MaryJane Thomson

Evolution

The world starts every morning, and stops
   Every night, people sleep,

The earth’s hours determining people’s
   Fate,

How do you spend the time you’re given,

Driven from sunrise to sunset,
   Or keeping sunrise losing sunset,

Living moderate, not rising with the seconds
   And falling with the minutes,

Building up hours,

There is no experience if you don’t stop
   And look.

All Day Air

Every day has a meaning,

We will be in conflict all day and get to the end
And you will see what you have learned,

Ah that is why I live today,

Ah that is why, I live today, to learn,
Not just of myself, but others.

For no one ever walked the earth completely
   Alone.
