Bill Sewell (1951-2003) is a Wellington writer and editor. He was Robert Burns Fellow at the University of Otago in 1981 and 1982, and from 1998-2003 he co-edited the review journal New Zealand Books. His most recent collection of poems was the acclaimed Erebus. A poem (1999). The Ballad of Fifty-one is his fifth major collection.
